CARING FOR YOUR REFINISHED FURNITURE
NOV 26 - Tips & Resources
You’ve completed the hard part of curating furniture for your home. Now how do you care for it and make sure it lasts a lifetime?
KEEP IT AWAY FROM WATER
Water and furniture are not good friends. The occasional spill is not a problem, but aim to clean it up as soon as possible. Always use a coaster before placing cups or glasses on top and be especially careful with alcoholic drinks and makeup remover!
KEEP IT AWAY FROM HEAT
Rapid fluctuations in temperature can cause unwanted expansion and contractions for wooden furniture. Avoid placing pieces next to a radiator or air conditioning unit.
CLEANING
Once a week (or whenever you remember), dust furniture with a damp cloth. Take a microfiber cloth, dampen it slightly with water, and wipe it over the piece. Do not soak the furniture.
Furniture cleaners may contain chemicals which can damage the paint and are not recommended for cleaning. Lift lamps, ornaments and décor instead of pushing them aside while dusting or polishing.
BE CAREFUL OF ITEMS PLACED ON TOP
If you plan to place items on top of your furniture, use felt pads to prevent damage to the surface. Move items around regularly to prevent marking or discolouration.
THE CONCLUSION
That’s it!
Taking care of your refinished furniture shouldn’t require a huge amount of effort. By simply sticking to a few rules and spending a bit of time, your furniture will remain in amazing condition for years to come.
